Inês Gonçalves (b. 1964, Lisbon) is photographer, director and producer. Between 1985 and 1988 she studied Photography at the Photographic Training Center in London. Between 1988 and 2004 she worked as a photographer for various newspapers and magazines.
During this residency were collected reproductions from other books and catalogues published by Inês during one of the most prolific periods of her long professional life, during which she established herself as an important landmark in the landscape of Portuguese fashion photography. Departing from an original concept conceived in partnership with lens based artist Federico Clavarino (b. Turin, 1984), “88-98” takes its form by following a peculiar strategy of graphic and editorial reinterpretation, in which elements from different contexts are put together in a new sequence that, nevertheless, preserves Gonçalves’ photographic ethos.
